January 10th 2008 - While CES continues to bring us much of the news we expected, such as that regarding the format war and some anticipated release dates, perhaps the one thing no one was expecting would be this. Today Namco have announced that their highly anticipated title, Soul Calibur IV, will have both Yoda and Darth Vader as playable characters.
There's a catch though, there's always a catch. Each character will be a console exclusive, with Darth Vader only being playable on the PS3 and Yoda making his way exclusively to the Xbox 360. One could speculate that one day both characters may be made available, via a download or something, but when the game hits the stores it's going to only be one star wars fighter per console, sorry.
Of course this isn't the first time Namco have done this. When Soul Calibur II was released for PS2, GameCube and Xbox, each version had it's own exclusive character. Nintendo fans were treated to Link from the Zelda series, Playstation fans were given Tekken icon Heihachi Mishima and Microsoft Xbox owners received Spawn, the guy from the comics (I think they drew the short straw).
Soul Calibur IV is undoubtedly one of the most exciting fighting games set for release this year, and with cameo appearances from Yoda and Vader adding to an already record sized roster, Soul Calibur IV promises a lot. It's set for a 2008 release, but
